Grammys 2011 – Grammy Awards Nominations, Performers and More

The 53 Grammy Awards are set to take place tonight and we are here to give you all the lowdown for fans planning to watch Grammys 2011 live from Staples Center in Los Angeles or on TV sets around the world.

Let’s first get the basics out of the way. The Grammy Awards reward each the most talented and popular musicians in the world and is looked upon as the Oscars for music.

The 2011 Grammy Awards will once again have some great performances with some of the biggest names in music performing in front of the live audience. Some of the big Grammys 2011 performers are Eminem, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Barbara Streisand, Usher, Justin Bieber and Mick Jagger just to name a few.

There is also the Grammy 2011 Presenters which features a who’s who list of celebrities in the music business. Take anyone from Miley Cyrus, to Jennifer Lopez, to Ryan Seacrest to Ricky Martin and you will be hard-pressed to find any big name not attending tonight’s Grammy awards ceremony.

Now as far as the Grammy nominations, 2011 is the year that Eminem makes a big return with his aptly named album “Recovery” helping him receive 10 nominations making him the most decorated artist heading into the ceremony.
But of course nominations aren’t enough for these big names and it’s likely to be Lady Gaga that gives the Detroit born rap star the most competition tonight with her 6 nominations. Among other artists with 6 nominations are Jay-z and Lady Antebellum. But perhaps it is Bruno Mars with 7 nominations that could be the biggest surprise of the 2011 Grammys.
The Record of the year is one of the most interesting awards and this year it’s between “Nothin’ on You” – B.o.B & Bruno Mars, “Need You Now” – Lady Antebellum, Empire State of Mind” – Jay-Z & Alicia Keys, “Fuck You” – Cee Lo Green and the ever so popular “Love the Way You Lie” – by Eminem & Rihanna
The most prestigious might just be album of the year and the Grammys 2011 album of the year nominees are Need You Now – Lady Antebellum, Teenage Dream – Katy Perry, The Suburbs – Arcade Fire and the two favorites: Recovery by Eminem and The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga.
If you’re looking for a fun Grammy Award to look forward to, look no further than the Best New Artist award which will go to either Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence & The Machine, Esperanza Spalding, or Mumford & Sons.

Grammy Awards 2011 Winners of Special Awards
The Grammys is also a time of recognition and this year the Grammys 2011 lifetime achievement awards will go to Julie Andrews, Roy Haynes, Juilliard String Quartet, the Kingston Trio, Dolly Parton, Ramones, George Beverly Shea. The MusiCares Person of the Year was chosen to be Barbara Streisand.
